The Opening event of the Asian Poker Tour(APT) Asian Series in Cambodia took off with good numbers at the Queenco Casino and Hotel at Victory Beach in Sihanoukville. The much anticipated return of the APT Asian Series to Cambodia was kicked off with much fanfare. The Main Event is expected to exceed record numbers as the Asian poker players are keen on this new outing.
A total of 87 registered entries were reported for the Opening event of ‘Welcome to APT‘. The other event lined up was the ‘Ante up for Charity‘ Event where one third of the buy-in will go to the ‘Let us Create’ Charity which is a Cambodian based Non Profit Organisation. While Hun Sokmeng won the opening event, David Steicke took the top spot in the Charity Event 2.
Some of the Asian Tournament Regs like Euryd Rivera who is leading the APT Player of the Year(POY) Rankings this year, 2013 APT POY Sam Razavi are expected to be playing the full schedule. Some of the players already joining the poker festivities include Ben Abrahams, Feng Zhao, Jae Chul Chang and Kristian Faering.
Currently, we are not aware of any Indians attending the event, perhaps due to its slightly difficult connecvity from Indian towns. But most of South East Asian players are expected to be in attendance considering Queenco and APT are offering good deals. The week long schedule which is taking place in the poker room of the Queen Hotel. Apart from a state of the art Poker Room, Queenco also features 24/7 casino action in the form of blackjack, roulette, slots and other table games.
Day 2 will see more events like NLH Multi Re-Buy event and the High Rollers Event and two satellite tournaments in the evening. The main Event is a USD 1,100 buy in event and is expected to have 2 starting Day 1 flights. It kicks off from July 26th and the final table will take place on July 30th.
