EPT 10 Vienna: Timo Pfützenreuter in lead with 17 left, HR set to break records

eptvienna1Timo Pfützenreuter leads the final 17 poker players with 3,837,000 chips as day 4 of the European Poker Tour(EPT)10 Vienna  Main Event came to an end. Played out at the picturesque Festsaal in the Hofburg Palace adorned by historical paintings clad ceilings, the tourney now lacks the prominence of a major pro in the final stages.

Pablo Gardillo led the pack of 50 players as Day 4 began yesterday and had a good run to finish behind Timo with 3,582,000 chips. With a diverse mix of European country reps at the tables, the event lost a few notables on Day 3. World Poker Tour(WPT) Montreal Winner Jonathan Roy was one of the first few to exit on Day 4.

Other bigger stacks in the final 17 of EPT Vienna Main Event include Anthony Ghamrawi(2,790,000 chips), Simeon Naydenov(2,324,000 chips), Frei Dilling(2,280,000 chips) and Gavin O’Rourke(2,071,000 chips). Some of the shortest stacks include Oleksii Khoroshenin(437,000 chips), Mike Adamo(497,000 chips) and Sebastian Panny( 498,000 chips). There are many who are less than a million chips and when Day 5 starts, it might see a quick run to the Final table.

The EPT Vienna High Roller Event also got off  to a good start and is looking to break some records. The €10,000 High Roller kicked off with 136 players that accounted for 35 reentries, bringing the total field thus far up to 171 entries. It has already gone past the 115 entries from the Deauville High Roller and EPT London’s 157 entries, and since registration is open until the start of Day 2, there is still a great chance it could beat the previous best of EPT Prague’s 176 entries and even EPT Barcelona’s 180 entries.

After ten levels of play in the High Roller event, just 80 players remained with Russia’s Andrey Andreev in front with 338,400 chips. Action will resume in both events soon.
