With the recent launch of PokerStars LIVE Manila, Poker in the Philippines has entered a new era. Pokerstars, the operator of the world’s biggest online poker sites, has opened its second live poker room in Asia at the City of Dreams Manila, Philippines. The opening days of PokerStars LIVE Manila were a big success as the poker room played host to a free roll tournament and offered cash games on 14 permanent tables. There are also now tournaments running every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Now the City of Dreams Manila is ready to host its inaugural major tournament series- the 2015 Manila Megastack which is set to take place in January. The full Manila Megstack that will run from January 14 to January 18 will feature six total events, culminating in the PHP 25,000 (~US$560) Manila Megastack Main Event. The Main Event to begin on Saturday, January 17 will run with a single Day 1 flight and will draw to a close the following day. The tournament also features a PHP 1 million prize pool guarantee.
In this tournament series, poker players can start the Manila Megastack Main Event with 30,000 in chips and the levels will last 30 minutes each, with blinds kicking off at 50/100. There is two hours of late registration, and the poker game will move to 9 handed on Day 1 and there will be a redraw before Day 2. The other events lined-up in the Manila Megastack Tournament Series are standard no limit hold’em events with buy-ins of PHP 2,500, PHP 10,000 and PHP 50,000, along with a PHP 15,000 turbo no limit hold’em event and a PHP 5,000 Knockout Bounty no limit hold’em event.
Furthermore, the Manila Megastack Main Event and the PHP 50,000 buy-in hold’em event will both award points to the 2015 Asia Player of the Year race. This is a golden chance for Asian Poker Players, specially those from Macau, Hong Kong and around the region to consider making their plans to the Philippines before playing at the ACOP Platinum Series and the Macau Poker Cup in February 2015.
PokerStars LIVE Manila is situated on Level 2 of the casino floor at the City of Dreams Manila, which will be the new home of poker in the Philippines. The casino is, of course, the sister to the City of Dreams in Macau which is the host of the popular PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room.
