Jim Collopy wins his first ever WSOP Bracelet

What Jim Collopy was denied two years ago by Gus Hansen at 2011 WSOP Europe heads up event, he has achieved here in Melbourne, Australia on Tuesday. Collopy came out as a winner in event#2, the $1,650 Pot Limit Omaha event in WSOP APAC and was awarded with the winner’s WSOP bracelet. The total prize money won by him was AUD$69,662. After winning the bracelet, Collopy described his feeling in one word, ’’Awesome’’. And admitted that ’it is really nice to get the token, the trophy’.

All the nine players on the final table were playing for their first ever WSOP bracelet. Some seasoned and famous players like GPI Poker Player Leader Marvin Rettenmaier, Dan Shak and Mike Leah were also playing for the title. Rettenmaier who has won two World Poker Tour titles, again missed out on winning his first WSOP bracelet. Edison Ngugen displayed his skills by grabbing the second position and a reward of $43,050. Tino Lehich and Scott Reid came third and fourth respectively.

Jim Collopy was one of the thousands of players which get affected by ”Black Friday’’. But unlike a lot of others he chose to stick to his game and kept playing. He flew across the world to Australia and took admission in culinary classes. He definitely knows how to balance his life between those culinary classes and poker. Here on Tuesday all his hard work and smart act paid him off as he entered the day as the final table chip leader.

Earlier on Monday his fellow American, Bryan Piccioli had won the bracelet in event#1. So two Americans have won two bracelets back to back here at WSOP Asia Pacific. Keep watching this space for more updates on WSOP-APAC.
