Biography-

Known as “the first Australian poker player to win any main event”, Joe Hachem is famous in the international poker circuit for winning the all-time biggest WSOP tournament prize. Joseph Hachem, who was born in Lebanon later moved to Melbourne with his family when he was quiet young. There he worked as a chiropractor for almost 13 years. But soon gave up his job when he came to know about his blood disorder which was affecting his hands.

In the meantime, Joe started playing poker online. Soon the charm of the game took him to the casinos where he played live tournaments. Joseph was also involved in brokerage business in Victoria. The poker pro admits that he has always been a short tempered kind of guy but the game of poker taught him to control his temper.

While taking a consideration for his future, he kept playing poker casually for many years. Soon he realised his passion for this wonderful game and started playing poker on regular basis in nearby casinos. The famous Crown and Entertainment complex witnessed the journey of this rising star of international poker circuit where he often finishes high enough to win the game.

For almost five years, he kept paying in casinos before stepping into the WSOP tournaments. In 1989, he got married and admits that he is very lucky as his family has always been very supportive in his decision to pursue career in poker.

The WSOP tourney 2005 came as a turning point in his life where he won $7.5 million prize money. He entered the tournament as an unknown player and came out with a title of being the first Australian poker player to finish first and won the WSOP bracelet along with the biggest prize money ever offered to any player in WSOP tournaments.

But his journey did not end here. Later on, he participated in various tournaments of WPT (World Poker Tour) also and is still active in the world of poker. His Live tournament earnings exceed $ 11 Million.
