Michael Mizrachi entered the top 10 rankings of poker players released by the Global Poker Index(GPI) on April 4th as Marvin Rettenmaier retained top spot for more than 4 weeks in a row. Mizrachi riding on a win in the World Series of Poker Circuit event in South Africa in February climbed the ladder and finished on seventh spot, his highest ever placing in the the GPI.

GPI is a ranking of the top 300 poker players of the world and the website publishes it weekly. Players are ranked based on their performances in cash positions in qualifying tournaments over 6 periods of six months. A cash position is taken to be any position where in a player gets a part of the total prize money. Qualifying tournaments are open poker tournaments with a buy-in of atleast $1000 and with 21 or more entrants. Rettenmaier has had very good placings in the World Poker Tours in 2013 and thus maintained his top spot for a month now. 

Bertrand Grospellier fell from his second rank to land at number 4 while Phillipp Gruissem of Germany climbed 3 spots to be ranked second.

Meanwhile, in the Player of the year rankings of GPI, Paul Volpe continued to reign with 501.54 points while Michael Watson was a close second with 501.20 points. Daniel Shak was third with 429 points. USA stayed at top of the country rankings of poker players with 151 players in the top 300 and Canada was second with 23 players.
