Vanessa Rousso

Biography-

Vanessa Ashley Rousso who is also known as “Lady Maverick” is a famous French American poker player. Vanessa was born in New York but her family moved to France when she was quite young.  In 1992, her parents divorced and Vanessa decided to move back to Florida.

Rousso completed her high school from Wellington Landings Middle School. During her school days, she was quite an active student who often took part in swimming, softball game, basketball, debates etc. In fact, she excelled in the national debate tournaments in policy debate. Her mother worked as a guidance counselor at Jupiter Community High School. Vanessa founded the Environmental Club and served as its president. She also actively volunteered for a nonprofit organization “Mothers against Drunk Drivers”.

In December 2003, she completed her graduation from Duke University in just two and a half years. In 2004, Rousso joined a law school and was the first student to earn the Chaplin Scholarship from the University of Miami where she served as an active member of editorial board of University of Miami Law Review. In 2008, she got married to Chad Brown but unfortunately separated in 2012.

Rousso started playing poker at an early age but was not allowed to play live poker games. So she started playing online poker which continued till her college life. At the age of 21, she started playing live poker games in nearby casinos. From then onwards, she never looked back. She participated in numerous live poker events and marked her presence with many unforgettable winnings.

Her favorite poker game is Texas Hold’em. Besides this, the poker pro loves sky diving, travelling, playing chess, boating etc. She is a diehard fan of Brad Pitt. The poker pro in still active in poker circuit and also does endorsement for various brands. Vanessa is also endorsed by PokerStars under the screen name “LadyMaverick” as part of their Team PokerStars. She also featured in Maxim magazine which was written on game theory.

Though she has never won a WSOP Bracelet but has finished in the money 14 times. She doesn’t have any WPT title also to her credit but has been on 2 WPT final tables and cashed 8 times.

Besides, Vanessa also served as the spokesperson of GoDaddy.com.  Not only this, Rousso also appeared on Million Dollar Challenge. Presently, she is a celebrity judge on the show Bank of Hollywood where she gives away her own money to contestants.
