After Luke Brabin won the first WSOP Asia Pacific Gold Bracelet on Day 4, the tournament is in full swing at Crown Casino, Melbourne. Last 2 days have seen two more bracelets find their champions as in Junzhong Loo with AU$107,500 and the Australian Poker Hall of Famer Jeff Lisandro with AU$51,660. The 4th event, $1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Terminator reached its final table of 9 players who will return back for the title chase. $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, the 5th Event of this tournament is underway with big names like Antonio Esfandiari, Jeff Madsen and Daniel Negreanu in the hunt of their 1st WSOP APAC 2014 bracelet.
AU$2,200 No-Limit Hold’em Event
Junzhong Loo of Malaysia emerged out victorious defeating a field of 215 players. The 3-day game kicked off on Saturday last week and went to generate a prize pool of AU$430,000. Poker was in swift action on Day 1 resulting only 31 players making it to Day 2 wherein it reduced to the final 10. Junzhong Loo continued his aggressive strategies and ultimately defeated his good friend and countrymen Aik-Chuan Nee in the heads-up to win the title. With his maiden WSOP bracelet which also the first for his country, Loo will definitely boost the poker as a game in Malaysia.
$1,650 Pot-Limit Omaha Event
Jeff Lisandro won his sixth WSOP gold bracelet in this event bagging a cash prize of AU$51,660 and hence joined the league of Daniel Negreanu, TJ Cloutier, Layne Flack, Ted Forrest and Jay Heimowitz, who have grabbed that many of WSOP bracelet. The Australian Poker Hall of Famer shifted his gears on the final table and wiped out the rivals in just 3 hours to claim the coveted WSOP title. Another Australian poker pro, Jason Gray who was playing his 5th WSOP final table again felt short of his 1st WSOP win finishing 2nd with $31,931.
$1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Terminator Event
Day 2 of the terminator event has completed today at Crown Casino forming the Final Table of 9 players led by Nelson Maccini with 266,800 chips. Highlighting the action was the American poker pro Brandon Shack-Harris who overtook George Danzer in WSOP Player of the Year race. 250 players registered for this newly added event which promises a bounty of $500 to every player who knocks out another one in the game. The poker world has all eyes on this game as it climaxes tomorrow.
