A field of 6,420 players putting a buy-in of $10,000 in the Main Event of the 46th annual World Series of Poker created a massive prize pool of $60,348,000. With the top prize of $7,680,021 up for grab, the tournament drew the best game of each entrant. After a grueling action across 10 days, the poker world got its November Nine of 2015.
Thousands of people across the globe were predicting this year November Nine overnight. Several notable Indian players as in Amit Jain, Aditya Sushant, Kanishka Samant, Jaideep Sajwan, Tejas Doshi and Sharad Rao picked their November Nine yesterday. OPN India hosted a contest to predict the November Nine of 2015 and win poker bankroll. We received a number of entries but, unfortunately, none of them were correct.
Day 7 started with 27 players taking seats across 3 tables in the Amazon Poker Room at Rio. With a stack of 14,400,000 chips, Thomas Kearney was leading the field which included notables as in Daniel Negreanu, World #1 in tournament winnings, the online shark Fedor Holz and Anton Morgenstern who finished 20th in the 2013 WSOP Main Event. Players kept falling in the battle to reach the top 9 and game slowed down when we approached the final table bubble.
To the dismay of thousands of poker fans and followers of Daniel ‘Kidpoker’ Negreanu, he couldn’t make it to this year’s November Nine. Joe McKeehen hit a river-straight ending Daniel’s Main Event run in the 11th place for $526,778.
The final nine players is a good mix of experience and young blood. The November Nine led by Pennsylvania native Joe McKeehan has only one WSOP bracelet winner – Max Steinberg. The 3 non-Americans in the 2015 November Nine are Zvi Stern (Israel), Pierre Neuville (Belgium), Federico Butteroni (Italy).
