Ankur Agarwal overcame a field of 71 entries and emerged the 5K Deep Stack Champion of the ongoing India Poker Championship(IPC) at Casino Royale, Goa here yesterday. With this final event, IPC concluded its extremely successful March edition.
While the Ahmedabad player was the bubble boy in the 5K Warm event on the opening day of IPC March event, it took till Level 23 for Ankur to defeat the field and win the final event. He had entered the 10 player final table in third position with 98,100 chips.
Zarvan Tamboli finished the first runners up while Kavish Kukreja was placed third. These three players had a long battle and were evenly stacked for quite some time. But the moment Kukreja was eliminated, it didn’t take too long for Ankur to emerge the winner even though both final players were evenly stacked.
In the Big Game event, Amit Jain of Mumbai conquered Kanishk Kapoor to win the 25 K Big game event. A field of 51 players started playing and Jain had entered the final table in second place in chip count. He continued to be in the top three through the final table and finally emerged victorious. Uday Patil finished third in this event.
