Dinesh Alt overcame a tough field of Gary Benson, Dejan Divkovic, Trung Tran and Iori Yogo to become the main event champion of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Sydney after 4 days of grueling action. The huge 460 field was trimmed to 22 on the final day but it took a long 13 hour poker session to crown the new winner.
Alt won the title and a prize packet of $226,300 while Dejan Divkovic finished second. Divkovic led the chip stack at the end of Day 2 and came very close to winning back to back ANZPT titles. Last month he had taken down the ANZPT Perth leg of the main event and now becomes the front runner for the ANZPT Player of the Year title.
Dominik Nitsche finished in third place while David Campion took the fourth spot. Michael Faderson was placed fifth while Donald Jones was sixth.
ANZPT action now moves to Melbourne from May 20- June 3 2013.
