The Crown Casino in Melbourne saw poker history as American Piccioli was richer by AUD 211,575 after he overcame a tough field of final table poker pros including Jonathan Duhamel, Jeremy Ausmus and Ioro Yogo.
Jonathan Karamalikis kept Australian hopes alive till the last moment as he finished second and pocketed AUD130,743. Jay Loo was third and won AUD 96,305 while Duhamel was fourth. The rest of the poker players were fairly short stacked going into the final table.
The Accumulator event which is a new conception this year has seen a good response from poker pros and also witnessed a lot of discussions on poker strategy for the same. Since the event is a first timer, thus no one was sure how to approach it and no clear poker strategy was formed.
In the meanwhile, Day 2 of Event #2 $1,650 buy in Pot Limit Omaha also finished with a final table being set up. Jim Collopy had come from behind to lead the final table with more than 2,00,000 chips while Minh Nguyen and Dan Shak also stayed in contention with slightly more than 1,00,000 chips each. The rest of the field was very short stacked.
Event #3 Mixed Event began today and is still in progress.
