Biography-
Erik Seidel is a poker professional from USA who has been playing in the international poker scene for several decades. The eight times WSOP bracelet winner doesn’t need any introduction. Born and brought up in New York City, Erik completed his studies from Brooklyn College. Seidel also gave a guest appearance on the T.V. serial “To tell the truth” when he was quite young. Since his childhood, he had a great passion for games especially for backgammon. After dropping out of school in 1970, Erik joined the famous Myfair club and started playing backgammon, bridge etc.
In 1985, he picked up a job as a stockbroker on Wall Street. But destiny had some other plans for him. In 1987, the stock market crashed out and Erik had no option other than utilizing his gaming skills. He turned back to Myfair and started playing regularly. This was the time when he learned poker from his friends.
After some time, Erik was quite confident about his game and tried his skills in various tournaments including WSOP, WPT, Aussies millions, EPL etc. Finally, in 1992, he won his first WSOP bracelet. Not only this, Seidel has managed to win 8 WSOP bracelets in five different games, including Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Deuce to Seven Draw.
Seidel has made a world record of being the only person to win at WSOP tournament for three consecutive years. Besides this, he was also featured in the poker movie Rounders in footage of the 1988 WSOP Main Event. In 2010, he was inducted into “The poker hall of fame”.
