Huckleberry Seed who is popular as “Huck Seed” in the poker circuit is basically an American professional poker player. Born and brought up in Corvallis, Montana; Seed had great love for basketball game since his childhood. After completing his high school, Seed decided to do electrical engineering and took admission in California Institute of Technology.
The 6’7” tall poker pro once was the member of the 1987 Montana All-State basketball team in his school days. He was one of the most challenging players of Caltech’s basketball team. In fact, He was also featured in the 2006 documentary – Quantum Hoops. Though Seed was one of the finest players of his team but he had no plans of pursuing his career as a basketball player as he had his mind on something else – poker.
Seed started playing poker during his college days. Soon, he began to spend more time in the casinos of California and Nevada rather than on his studies. In 1989, Seed decided to take a chance and try his luck at the World Series of Poker and took a leave from college.
His short leave became a permanent one and Seed never looked back. He was new to the world of poker but marked his presence with his first two big cashes in two different 1990 WSOP tournaments. His first WSOP bracelet came in 1994 when he won at Pot Limit Omaha but he is best known for winning the main event in 1996. Then he went on to show his poker mettle in Razz when he won bracelets for the same in 2000 and 2003.
Apart from his success in various poker tournaments, Seed also appeared in NBC’s poker television show – Poker After Dark. The poker pro can be seen very calm and quiet at the poker table but in the poker world, he is quiet famous for his “proposition bets”. For instance, once he made a prop bet with Phil Hellmuth and Konstantin Othmer for $10,000 bucks that he can float in the ocean for 24 hours without touching the bottom.
