Joseph Cheong won the Asian Poker Tour(ATP) Manila Millions Title after leading the final table with a huge chip advantage. Cheong took the high rollers event title and pocketed HK$10.4 Million or USD 1,340,000. The HK$ 1M buy-in event saw 18 entrants and 7 reaching the final table at the Resorts World Manila.
Only 4 places were supposed to be paid out and Cheong triumphed over all of them to take the big cash. He went heads-up with Richard Yong and needed only a single hand to eliminate him. Yong won around HK $6.5 M while third place finisher Peter Chan got around HK $ 4 Million. The last position to pay out was taken by Paul Phua who won HK$ 3 Million.
The 18 player field included poker pros like Sam Trickett, Philip Gruissem, Joe Hachem and defending champion Allan Le. But 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event Final tablist Cheong proved too good for all of them as he took the crown.
In other news at the ATP Manila Millions, Ferlyn Cabaling won her 3rd title in a row by taking down the Ladies of Poker Event. It was interesting that the final hand through which she won the title was Pocket Queens, symbolic of a Ladies hand. The Main Event at the Manila Million will start today and a good number of poker pros are expected to join that too.
