In a revival of fortunes, 888 Poker has managed to nudge ahead of Party Poker in online poker traffic to become the 4th largest online poker network. This marks the first time 888 Poker has done the same. Party Poker was one time the biggest name in online poker behind PokerStars but is losing some of its past glory.
In data provided by independent poker monitoring agency, Poker Scout, 888 poker now sits at 4th spot in terms of the 7-day moving average of active seats filled in cash game tables while Party Poker Network is now at 5th. PokerStars is the unprecedented Number 1 while Full Tilt Poker(FTP) is number 2 followed by iPoker Network.
The battle for the second spot is also an ever raging one between FTP and iPoker Network. Ever Since FTP was relaunched last year in November 2012, it has made its way to second place but iPoker keeps bouncing back and both these online poker room’s take turns to be second fiddle behind the ‘always on top’ PokerStars. Data released on June 24th, 2013 highlights that it was after two months that iPoker had dethroned FTP and come back on the second spot.
In the latest reports from PokerScout, PokerStars in an aftermath of its 100 Billionth Hand promo still has player traffic up by 2%. Considering the market trends where other sites are experiencing a slump of 5% in online poker traffic, this is quite an achievement for PokerStars. In comparison to last week, online poker traffic had plummeted by 18% and poker pundits feel it is because of the end of the huge 100 Billionth hand at PokerStars.
