Ludovic Geilich won his first ever major title by taking down former UKIPT Ibiza winner Pablo Rojas to be crowned the 2013 UKIPT Pokerstars Marbella Festival winner yesterday. The pretty Spanish city played host for four days to the second UKIPT event of Season 4 and saw a new champion in England poker pro Geilich as he won Euro 130,000. Runners up Pablo Rojas who had won a UKIPT Estrellas title in 2012 won 98,000 Euros.
A total of 763 poker players were vying for this title and the final table comprised of a mixed ethnicity poker group. Lucas Blanco entered the final table as the chip leader but he was the fourth to exit benefiting the ultimate winner Geilich. Lucas Blanco won 35000 Euros for his effort. Fernando Curto Gonzalez went off in eight spot winning 12000 Euros. Jorge Eguaras got 15000 Euros for coming in on seventh spot. Jonatan Soderstrom was a short stack entering the final table but managed to hold on to sixth place finishing with 25000 Euros.
After the final three players were decided, a lot of deal making pursued. Finally the three decided on payouts for each other. Hrabia was compromised in third place and gauranteed 95K, Rojas got 98K while Geilich got 116K and 14K were left to play for.
UKIPT now moves on to the Hippodrome, London from June 28-30.
