Michael Malm won the Event #8, $2500 Eight Game Mix of the 2013 WSOP at the Rio, Las Vegas making it the third Bracelet for his country Canada. Malm’s journey to this bracelet has been strange as a chance registration to Event #8 after the other event he wanted to participate in was closed.
The 3 day event entered its last day yesterday with a star studded line up of 19 players. But the little known poker player from Canada showed some witty all round poker skill to take the $225,104 prize by beating Steven Wolansky who led the final table in parts. Wolansky got $139,034 while third place finisher Greg Mueller won around $89,000.
In Event #9, $3000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout, Cliff Josephy won defeating Evan Silverstein to win his second WSOP Bracelet. Josephy has earlier won a WSOP Bracelet in 2005 in the $1500 Seven Card Stud Event and this marks his second bracelet. Event 9 featured 477 players and awarding upto 60 players with the money. Josephy reigned richer by $299,486 while Silverstein got $185,487. Steven Silverman got $123,202 for his third place finish while Tim West got $91,400 for coming in fourth.
