On a final table where both Gavin Smith and Mike Matusow are sitting, the other players are surely going to have an interesting time. Both of these are gifted not only with exemplary poker skills but also have the gift of the gab. One surely saw both in full glory as Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow won his 4th WSOP Bracelet at event #13, $5000 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or better to silence his critics who thought his game was over. The 2013 WSOP awarded 3 more bracelets over the weekend as action became more thrilling and colorful at the Rio, Las Vegas.
Mike won $266,303 overcoming a field of 266 players and had an emotional outburst the moment he defeated Mathew Ashton. Ashton won $164,700 while Mike Leah pocketed $108,000. Gavin Smith who is also known for making his thoughts vocal on the poker table finished sixth.
Earlier in the weekend, Event #11 was won by Levi Berger defeating Scott Clements in a see-saw battle. The $2500 NL Hold’em/ 6 handed made Berger richer by more than $460,000 and also showed the Canadian force in this years WSOP. Ottawa born, Berger won his country Canada a fifth WSOP bracelet this year. Ben Palmer finished third in this event.
In Event #12, Pot Limit Hold’em, another poker legend came close to winning another WSOP Bracelet as Allan Cunnigham had to be content with finishing second behind Lev Rofman. Rofman dominated the heads up battle to take $166,135. Canadian Jaspal Brar finished third.
