The Asian Poker Tour(APT) Macau took off yesterday with the HK$4,400 Mix Max 10-6-4 Event 1 kicking off action and Yu Xiang winning the top prize of HK$ 61,380. Hosted by the Star World Hotel and Casino, Event 1 and 2 concluded with Phong Nguyen taking the honours in the Charity Event.
While 48 entries were there for Event 1, the charity event 2 saw 59 players. Xiang went heads up with fellow Hong Kong countryman Justin Chan for the top prize in Event 1. Danish poker player Kristen Faering who came in third earned 105 APT Player of the Year(POY) points to push him to top spot in the rankings. His 5 ‘in the money’ finishes in the APT this year ensured he is in the lurch for the number one ranking.
Event 2 of 2013 APT Macau was the charity event where the buy-in was $1000 and an optional $500 was supposed to go to ‘Holy House of Mercy of Macau’. A total of 55 out of 59 players went for the charity ensuring HK$27,500 going to charity. Frank Yee finished runners up behing Nguyen in a poker game that saw an impressive show from the final winner. While Nguyen won HK$ 20,600, Yee earned $12,400.
