The Macau Poker Cup(MPC) rolled off over the weekend at the City of Dreams Casino and Team PokerStars Pro’s from Asia raked up two of the three opening events. While Celina Lin captured the opener HK $2,000 Deepstack NLH event, Raymond Wu won Event 3, the HK $2,000 Deepstack Pot Limit Omaha tournament. Event 2 HK $5,500 NLH tournament was won by a non PokerStars Pro Korean Ji Woon Kim.
Celina Lin won an all women’s heads up battle to win HK $85,800 defeating Hong Kong’s Hazel Chui. The double Red Dragon champion with this win became the first player to reach 20 final tables in the Asia Player of the Year(APOY) rankings. Event 2 of the Macau Poker Cup was Ji Woon Kim who defeated Daniel Chan of Hong Kong to win the top prize of HK $180,600. The 36 year old Korean topped a field of 152 poker players to win his first ever tournament.
Event 3 was won by Team PokerStars Pro Raymond Wu of Taiwan for HK $37,500 defeating countryman Pipi Huang. In this event the top 4 spots were grabbed by players from Taiwan as King Chung Wang and Neo Chen came third and fourth respectively.
The much awaited Red Dragon Event will start on Wednesday and satellites for the same are also underway. The Macau Poker Cup features 10 events in all, results for all of which will be updated in this space.
