It took a man from England to take down the trans-continent Final table of the Macau Poker Cup(MPC) Red Dragon event here this weekend. Tom Alner who has always had good showings in the Asia-Pacific poker tournaments and specifically in the MPC, stamped his authority by winning the Red Dragon Event at the City of Dreams Casino, Macau.
Alner defeated a packed poker player field of 645 entrants and topped a final table that featured players from 3 continents. Alner won HK $ 823,000 after the final 4 players struck a deal giving him the title. Alner, Jason Chong,Wilson Fu, and Victor Sheerman made the four-way deal drawing the curtains on the third MPC Red Dragon Event.
Alner entered the final table sixth in chip stenght from the remaining 21 players. Brian Yip of Hong Kong was a chip leader by a huge margin but his dream run came to end in sixth place. With almost 1.7 Million chips, his closest competition was almost 1 Million chips short of him.
