After 8 levels of play and overcoming Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst, Anthony Zinno won The WPT Borgata Poker Open etching his name on the WPT Champions Cup. The days play started on Friday with the six handed final table and Cong Pham and Selbst in top stacks. Zinno who was third in chip strength overcame the two favorites to win the Cup to take the $825,099 first-place prize and a $25,000 seat in the WPT Championship.
Zinno, poker pro from Rhode Island, claimed victory of his first WPT Title thwarting Selbst’s chance to get a slice of WPT history as she couldv’e become the first ever woman winner of a WPT event with an open buy-in. Eric Fields who was the weakest stack when the final table started was also the first to exit followed by David Randall.
Jeremy Kottler who was fourth in chip strenght exit in fourth place emptying to Selbst. It was a good three way poker action between Pham, Selbst and Zinno with all three having similar stacks. During some periods, Selbst was on top but Pham never looked like winning from the time the final table started. even during heads up action, Selbst held an edge with a bigger chip stack but some aggresive calling and good reads from Zinno ensured victory for him at the WPT Borgata Poker Open.
WPT action now moves to Paris as the bWin WPT Grand Prix De Paris takes off from October 25th at the City of Lights. Keep watching this space for more action from the World Poker Tour.
