The 2013 APT Manila Main Event Day 2 has just begun at the Resorts World, Manila and the 155 who took to the felt have already been reduced to 129. Apoorv Goel, Mandeep Narang and Srinivas Poloshetty are the three poker players still holding the Indian fort high. While Narang began the day with a good stack of 93,300; Goel and Poloshetty had 21,300 and 31,500 respectively.
The two flights of Day 1a and 1b saw a total of 389 players participating making it the second highest turnout for any Asian Poker Tour Main Event ever. The PHP 50,000 buy-in event gives out the lions share of PHP 4.27 M to the winner from the huge prize pool of PHP 17 Million. While Day 1a saw 159 entrants and Craig Sloan in chip lead, Day 1b saw a better turnout of 230 players and Jihad Beijjani in lead.
Previously, the two day High Rollers Event was won by American Josh Stefansky for PHP 1.6 Million. The Head Hunter Side Event was taken down by local player Jay Tolon for PHP 422,000 and Chung Ranmi was the Queen in the Ladies of Poker Event winning PHP 50,600.
Earlier on the opening day of the 2013 APT Manila, the charity event was won Lai Chee Hong while Indian Dhaval Mudgal was placed third in this event drawing the first money for Team India. Current leader of the APT Player of the Year(POY) Rankings Sam Razavi won himself some more lead points by taking the Mix game PLH/PLO event.
At the time of going to print, 123 poker players still remained in contention for the 2013 APT Manila Main Event Title. Keep watching this space to see how our Indian contingent performs.
