As the official final table of the High Roller Event of the WSOP Europe was decided in Paris, there was one poker pro who had more than a final berth to smile about. Daniel Negreanu earned enough points to win the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year (POY) Award as he formed the eight player ‘stacked’ final table of Event 8 of WSOP Europe. ‘kid poker‘ also earned the honour of becoming the first ever poker pro to win the WSOP POY twice. He won the award first in 2004 and riding on his 10 cashes in WSOP events in 2013 has won it again this year.
In 2004, the Canadian had cashed in 5 times at WSOP Events and won a Gold Bracelet also. This year, he has cashed 10 times in the WSOP and also won his fifth career bracelet in the WSOP Asia Pacific Main Event. Also in contention was Mathew Ashton who has had 3 WSOP final tables and one WSOP Bracelet this year. It seems Negreanu is still not done for this year as he is going very strong in the High Roller Event of WSOP Europe and may win his sixth bracelet.
