Biography –
Jay Farber may not be a well-known name in the international poker circuit but the figures of his solid stack of chips at the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event final table are enough to get an idea about him. He is an amateur poker player, who can be seen often, at the bars, hosting the Nightlife of Las Vegas.
Born as Herbert Farber in Doylestown, Pennsylvania; Farber calls Santa Barbara, California, his hometown from where he completed his high school education & graduation from University of California, Santa Barbara with a business degree.
A burly framed personality with heavily tattooed arms, the 28-year old player, initially used to play poker casually with his friends. Soon, he moved to Vegas in his mid-20s with a hope to be a professional poker player. After some time, he decided to do a job & started working in the nightlife scene in Las Vegas. He became a VIP host, a poker player, a degenerate gambler promoting nightclubs like Hakkasan, which took a great deal of his time.
Though he always tried his best to put most of his time in learning poker by playing cash games at the various poker rooms but learned the core aspects of the game through various poker forums and studying poker. Farber admits that he is a diehard admirer of Dan Bilzerian. Earlier, he was also a regular contributor to the 2p2 poker forums also.
He played many cash games in Vegas. Later, he decided to enter some satellites because of their added value. He also played the WSOP Main Event last year but didn’t cash.
Currently, he is learning the essential facets of poker, with an aim to mark his victory at the final table of 2013 WSOP Main Event “November Nine”. Being the only Las Vegan to make it through this year, Farber is all set for the upcoming action at the final table.
Though he is not a poker pro but has a long array of bracelet winners including Chance Kornuth, Vanessa Selbst, and Ben Lamb, as his supporters.
