Biography
Sylvain Loosli is relatively an unknown name for most in the poker world but with his performance in the 2013 WSOP, his fortunes have changed forever. The 26 year French poker player has made it to the final table of the 2013 WSOP “November Nine” main event.
Born in Toulon, France, Loosli was quite sporty, with interests in games like tennis, surfing, and snowboarding. He attended business school and completed his graduation with an aim to pursue a career in the business world.
It was in 2006 when Loosli started playing online poker while he was in France. In fact, much of the poker experience that he had gained actually came from playing online poker, but the sudden changes in the country’s online gaming law urged him to move to London. Soon after this, he began playing as a professional poker player. For the past few years, he has been living in London together with his bread and butter – the online $25-$50 No-limit hold’em poker. But he often visits France and plays online poker games on various sites like PokerStars and Winamax.
Though Loosli’s resume for live tournaments is quite short the 2013 WSOP came as a turning point in his poker career. He has always been a regular player who used to log for hours at the high stakes online tables. He has earned more than $1 million in online cash games.
With the advice & encouragement from his roommates like Guillaume de la Gorce (former Winamax poker pro) and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier (PokerStars pro), he is definitely going to make some quick & deceiving moves to twist the game.
Although he is a rookie when it comes to the WSOP Main Event, but being the only French player at the WSOP Main Event final table, he will definitely catch the eyes of spectators at WSOP. With his hooded sweatshirt and dark glasses, that provides him a private space away from the highly charged atmosphere, he will be hitting hard to win the event.
Currently, the young Frenchman is planning to get in as much live tournament play as possible to enhance his poker skills for the 2013 November Nine.
