In a positive thrust for the Asian poker scene, the World Poker Tour is marking a return to Asia with the first ever WPT Korea set to happen from Dec 15-19 this year. The tournament will take place at the Ramada Plaza Hotel’s WPT Club Phoenix Poker Room in the island city of Jeju and feature a $2700 + $300 buy-in Main event. The final table of the WPT National China Event will also be held at the same venue during these dates.
“After the success of our recent event in China, we’re looking forward to attracting a strong field in Jeju as we expand the WPT brand further into Asia,” said WPT President Adam Pliska said on the WPT Website. “With two final tables playing out in the same venue just days apart, we’re confident that the launch of WPT Korea will be just the beginning of more WPT events throughout the region in coming seasons.”
The WPT Korea Main Event will feature two Day 1 flights with reentry. The Day 1a flight will be a historic one for the tour, as it will be the first time that a live final table is held simultaneously at the same venue. The WPT National China with a top prize of $254,000 to the champion will be moved to Jeju on Dec 15 and live streaming of the same will be done. Each player at the final table of WPT National China will receive a free entry into the WPT Korea Main Event.
