The Red Dragon Event of the Macau Poker Cup(MPC)20 is now down to the final table with Victor Teng leading with 3,535,000 chips. But there are two men on that FT who are seeking a slice of history. First is Terry Fan who overcame a huge field in the April MPC to win the Red Dragon in 2013 and the second is Akash Malik who is 3rd in chip strength and looking to win the first ever Red Dragon Title for India.
Day 3 started out with 77 poker players, all in the money. The first 30 eliminations were quick and many known names tumbled including Vivian Im and Lei Gao. From the Indian perspective, Aditya Agarwal finished in 62nd place, Sahil Aggarwal in 58th and Sumit Sapra in 48th spot. All three took a prize packet of HK $28,700.
Akash Malik got a good double up around the stage when 40 players were left and never looked back. He was also the first player on the table to hit 2 Million chips. Though he exchanged some big pots with Percy Yung and also gave up some chips to her, he still maintained a healthy stack. At no point did he look like he wouldn’t make the final table.
Other making it to the final table include the sole female contender Percy Yung who has already bettered her previous best 10th place finish in the 2010 Red Dragon Event has a small stack of 760,000. Buyanjargal Bold from Mongolia has a good stack of 2,700,000 and is second behind Teng.
Play will resume at 3 PM Local time tomorrow. OPN will be rooting for Akash Malik. Lets hope the Indian rail cheers him to ship the Red Dragon to India.
