The Global Poker Index(GPI) has partnered with two of the most prestigious poker rooms of Europe, Aviation Club de France and Casino Barcelona and will become their official rankings system. This agreement will ensure than all local players who play at these casinos will earn GPI points at regular tournaments also in addition to premier poker tourneys like WPT Grand Prix de Paris, EPT Barcelona, the Euro Finals of Poker, the Paris Open of Poker and the Estrellas Poker Tour.
This comes close on the heels of the GPI partnering with European Poker Tour(EPT) to determine their Player of the Year(POY). Signing on Aviation Club de France and Casino Barcelona is a big step in taking poker rankings to the grassroot and ensuring the same system is followed at the club levels as at the bigger tournaments.
“Having leading European poker rooms like the Aviation Club de France and Casino Barcelona joining our initiatives proves that we are continuing to make our mark in the poker world,” said Global Poker Index CEO Alexandre Dreyfus announcing the partnership on the GPI Website. “Our organization continues to grow and we’re elated to know that we continue to reach a broader audience.”
This partnership will ensure that a player will now be able to accumulate more GPI points when he plays at the smaller poker tournaments at these poker rooms. More clubs and casinos are expected to sign on to ensure that poker players benefit by adding their GPI points towards their GPI Rankings. This will also give all plauers across the world to have an opportunity to be ranked in the GPI Rankings. Even the smaller stakes player who plays at local tournaments can now fancy accumulating GPI points. This will further be strenghetdn when casinos sign on with GPI.
GPI has made it clear with this partnership that its larger goal is to become the ultimate Poker Ranking Authority and we are expecting that soon more casinos will be inducted in this program. Earlier last week, GPI had also signed on Boris Becker as a brand ambassador for a wider media presence.
