It is an impressive six poker player line up that has formed the Final table of the World Poker Tour(WPT) World Championship at the Borgata Hotel and Casino here today. What started as the final two tables with 18 players on Day 4 lead by Eric Afriat culminated into a star final six with Kevin Stammen in lead. He is joined by Byron Kaverman, Curt Kohlberg, Abe Korotki, Tony Dunst, and Ryan D’Angelo.
Though Stammen is in chip lead with 5,650,000 chips, he will have to face still competition to claim the top prize in WPT. The notables lost along the way during the play-down stretch today included Glenn Lafaye (17th place), Hans Winzeler (16th place), Justin Young (15th place), Ray Qartomy (13th place), Bobby Oboodi (12th place), Eric Afriat (11th place), Brock Parker (10th place), Tom Dobrilovic (eighth place), and Anthony Gregg (seventh place). Afriat almost made back-to-back final tables on tour after winning the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown last week.
Anthony Gregg was the unfortunate final table bubble boy when his fell short with trip 9’s off Kaverman’s . The latter struck gold when he flopped a straight with and the turn and river didn’t fetch any hope for Gregg and he was eliminated. That meant the final table was set and the day’s play was over.
