In what was a short outing on the felt, the 17 player field was skittled down to a Final table of 8 lead by Jack Salter in merely five hours at the 2014 European Poker Tour(EPT) Grand Final in Monte Carlo Casino. Salter who was third when Day 5 started behind overnight chip leader Kenny Hicks had a small stack through the day but in the last hour of play accumulated enough chips to have a huge stack of 5,170,000.
Day 5 started with 17 players returning to play in an attempt to play down to the FT. The Nine players who exit include Steven Silverman, Matias Ruzzi, Ivan Soshnikov(13th place) and with Mark Teltscher’s exit the final former EPT Champion was also eliminated. Though the FT doesn’t have any former EPT winners but it does have a mix of players. Six nationalities are represented in this eight-handed table with Salter representing the UK, Magnus Karlsson of Sweden, Antonio Buonanno keeping Italian hopes, and a trio of Sebastian von Toperczer, Malte Moennig and Sebastian Bredthauer will represent Germany which has been arguably the most dominant country on the European Poker Tour this season. Mayu Roca from Colombia and Kenny Hicks from USA complete the lineup.
When the final day at the EPT Grand Final starts the players will be guaranteed of a €128,000 payday which will go up exponentially as eliminations happen. The big prize is the coveted title as well as the top pay check of €1,240,000.
The EPT Grand Final High Rollers also found its final table after Day 2 was completed. David Kitai is in lead with 2.2 Million chips followed by are Byron Kaverman (1.813 million), Scott Seiver (1.553 million), and Philipp Gruissem (1.47 million). Completing the line-up are Stephen Chidwick, Chenxiang Miao, Pascal Lefrancois , John Juanda, and Martin Finger.
