Jonathan Dimmig became the first ‘Millionaire’ of the 2014 WSOP when he won the Event 8: $1,500 Millionaire Maker topping a record field of 7977 which is the second largest field in poker history. Dimmig defeated Jeffrey Coburn in the 3 day event which saw him starring Day 2 as well as the final table on Day 3 to take home the more than Million dollar guarantee of $1,319,587.
A total of 819 players finished ITM in the Millionaire Maker Event; prominent being John Racener, Jonathan Gray and Matt Salsberg. For Indian poker lovers, Samay Parikh finished 366th in this event cashing in $5,384. Parikh did a double cash yesterday when he also finished ITM in Event 11: $1,500 NLHE Six Handed taking home $2,678.
Two other WSOP Bracelets were awarded with Event 9 and 10 also winding up. While Jeff Smith won Event 9 of $1,000 NLHE, Brock Parker won Event 10 $10K Limit Omaha Hi/Lo championship. Smith won his first WSOP Bracelet defeating Danny Nguyen for $$323,125 which is also the best cash of his poker career. Nguyen went down taking $199,829 for his second place finish after a 3 hour long heads up battle.
Brock Parker won Event 10 for $443,407 defeating Richard Ashby for his third WSOP Bracelet. Parker who created poker buzz when he won two bracelets at the 2009 WSOP had to wait five years to get his third one. He topped a field of 178 poker players to take down the coveted prize.
