Are you a poker lover? Do you feel strongly for some poker player? Then this is your chance to turn a player into a poker legend as the public nominations for the 2014 Poker Hall of Fame are now open. It is your chance to make your vote count and ensure the poker player your rail gets their due and inducted in the much respected list. You can have your voice heard through this voting.
Criteria for a player to be inducted in the 2014 Poker Hall of Fame:
- A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
- Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination
- Played for high stakes
- Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
- Stood the test of time
- Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.
Some of the poker legends who are a part of this elite group include 2013 inductees Tom McEvoy and Scotty Nguyen, Mike Sexton, Dan Harrington, Erik Seidel, Doyle Brunson and Barry Greenstein. There are currently 46 inductees in the Poker Hall of Fame and 21 of them are living members.
The process generally involves inviting nominations from the general poker public. This open nomination process is available on the WSOP Website till August 15th. After this, all the names will go to a Nominating committee. They will review all submissions and prepare a list of eligible candidates. This list will be released in September and these will then be voted upon by a select panel considering of Poker Hall of Famers and members of the Media. These votes which are cast in private will then be counted and the final two names be selected and inducted on the Final Table of the 2014 WSOP Main Event in November.
