The Deltin, Daman which is Delta Corp’s Luxury property in Daman has received its Five Star Accreditation from the Ministry of Tourism, India last Week. The 176-room property was launched earlier this year and is equipped to host MICE events, large weddings, corporate events and conferences. The banqueting division can accommodate small group events, ranging from 20 to 2000 persons. When the property was launched, it was also announced that a 60,000 square feet casino was also planned. OPN has learnt that the casino in Deltin, Daman will be operational in October 2014.
The Deltin, Daman is situated within close proximity to major urban centres such as Mumbai, Pune, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. This entertainment luxury resort by the Delta Corp Group which operates several other casinos and hotels in a fast growing hospitality and gaming group in the country. With 2 other hotel properties in India and 3 Casino properties in Goa, Delta Corp is making its mark felt.
In Goa itself, Delta Corp has 3 floating casinos, two of which are operational. It is learnt that Deltin Royale and Deltin Jaqk-the two floating properties of the group together account for a major chunk of the revenue the Goa Government earns from this sector. Casino Caravela is the third floating casino owned by the group but is currently not operational. When the Deltin Casino becomes operational, the Delta Corp group will become the unprecedented eader in the emerging Indian Gaming market.
While the Deltin Royale is the prime casino property of the group, Deltin Jaqk has had a somewhat up and down battle. It is also learnt that Delta Corp posted a consolidated net loss of Rs 19.6 crore in first quarter (April-June) of current financial year due to loss in real estate and hospitality businesses and lower income in gaming operations. Net profit in the year-ago period was Rs 12.1 crore.
According to an article published in Money Control, an official is quoted as saying that the net loss(drop in gaming revenue) can be attributed to the closure of Deltin Jaqk for some days. But the company is quite bullish on the Deltin, Daman property and feel that the casino at this hotel will add a lot of value to the group. Situated close to major cities, this entertainment resort is being pitched as a primary gaming hub with state of the art gaming facilities. It is learnt that the latest gaming machines will be used in this casino which will make it a one of a kind gaming centre in India.
