EPT Grand Finale winner Antonio Buonanno with 1,175,000 chips at the end of Day 3 of the World Poker Tour Cyprus Main Event sits in lead. The Italian poker pro held his chip leader position even on the 3rd day of play. Buonanno is way ahead of the rest of the players, as his closest competitor, Serdar Sağlam has just 800,000.
Day 3 started with 71 players at the luxurious poker room of Merit Crystal Cove Hotel & Casino. After few aggressive rounds of play at the tables, the money bubble burst and Louis Salter was crowned the “Bubble Boy” as he finished 46th place.
With a guaranteed prize pool of $ 1 million, the $ 4,400 buy-in WPT Cyprus Main Event brought together 311 players. The re-entry formula to level 10 of Day 2 added 93 more players making it a total of 404 which generated a prize pool of $ 1,471,300 to be shared between 45 top players.
In the hunt of another major title after EPT, Buonanno will take his seat on Day 4 as the chip leader. Other poker masters who secured their seat to Day 4 in the Final 30 include Alexander Lakhov, Oliver Price, Toby Lewis and Dmitry Gromov all with over half a million chips. The Swedish beauty and poker pro Sofia Lövgren is also in the field with 228,000 chips. Nuri Kural, the Turkish poker player will enter Day 4 with the shortest chip stack of only 59,000 chips.
It is going to be an exciting last 2 days of the main event as the winner will get a ticket to the WPT World Championship along with the cash prize.
