Indian poker players couldn’t maintain the momentum of big wins this weekend which was created by the 5-figure wins of Arvindhan L and Arsh Grover at the start of 2015. However, they clinched the top prizes in few tournaments with fair cash prizes. The action at the online felt was led by Amit Jain aka bblacklegend this weekend who cracked the final table contest of PokerStars $44 NL Hold’em [Turbo], $16K Gtd on Friday taking home $3,699.
When the action rolled out in online tourneys on Saturday, Indian poker players jumped in to cash big but again only one remarkable win came out by the end of the night long battles. aob1986 clinched the top prize of $3,445 defeating a huge field of runners in $25 NL Hold’em [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo], $15K Gtd. Many other players battled for the prize pools but couldn’t hit bigger pots.
Sunday drew major action when several Indian poker players cashed small amounts in various tournaments on PokerStars which collectively made a sizeable weekend Indian pot. arjan30 was playing strategically to reach the final stages of The Hotter $11 [Turbo], $70K Gtd but fall in 6th place for $3,242. $215 Sunday Warm-Up, $500K Gtd event saw many Indian players in the race of the top prize but only two could grab fair cash. invi took home $1,661 for his 27th place finish while buzzzbeee85 pocketed $1,316 finishing 40th in the money list.
Most of the online poker tournaments are played in No Limit Holdem formats rather than any Omaha variant these days. Moreover, we haven’t seen any significant win by an Indian player in Pot Limit Omaha online tourney in recent past. This weekend, kingpaulie broke the bars winning $55+R PL Omaha, $5K Gtd tournament for $1,925.
