The 22nd edition of Macau Poker Cup will kick start tomorrow at ‘PokerStars LIVE Macau’ poker room. The 17-day long poker tournament will feature 16 title events with over HK$26 million (USD $3.3 million) in estimated prize money making it the biggest ever tournament in MPC history.
The tournament will kick off with HK $2,000 Deepstack NLH event which guarantees a prize pool of $200,000. HK $6,000 Baby Dragon event which drew over 300 runners in its first edition last year will be the 2nd event this year. The prize pool of this event is expected to surpass the guaranteed amount to HK $2 million. The High-Roller lovers will vie for a huge prize pool which shot over HK $4 million in 2014.
Highlighting the action will be Red Dragon event which starts on 7th March and runs for a week. Last year this HK $12,000 buy-in main event drew a record 995 runners making a massive prize pool of HK$9.6 million. The officials of the tournament are awaiting the magical number of 1000 runners this year. Red Dragon winner receives HKD $100,000 entry to 2015 ACOP Main Event scheduled towards the end of this year. For those who do not make it to the Red Dragon Final Table, HK $20,000 NLH event is a good buy to win from HK $1 million prize pool.
A variety of satellites will be running for the Red Dragon, HK $20K NLH and High Roller event across the tournament.
HK $5,000 Megastack event (March 6-7) which comes with a huge starting stack of 30,000 chips and a HK $500,000 guaranteed prize pool is the newest addition to Macau Poker Cup.
Alongwith the huge prize pools across 16 events, Macau Poker Cup brings crucial points for players over the Asia Player of the Year leaderboard and newly-created GPI Asia-Pacific Rankings.
While the tournament is expected to draw thousands of players from Asia-Pacific, newly appointed Adda52 Team Spades members – Amit Jain, Aditya Sushant and Kunal Patni will lead the Indian camp. Speaking to OPN India about MPC 22, Kunal Patni who won the ACOP Spadie last year confirmed that he will be in Macau for the entire tournament and will play most of the event. Amit Jain and Kunal Patni expressed their interest in HK$ 20K NLH, Red Dragon and the HK $5,000 Megastack event. Both of the Team Spades pro will land in Macau on 6th March to join the action and accompany Kunal.
