‘This Week That Year’ is an article series that will provide ‘a blast from the past’ in poker. It started back on February 21, 2013, when PokerStars made an announcement of opening a branded live poker room called PokerStars LIVE at the City of Dreams. Do you remember that room finally opened on April 19, 2013? Yes; the room was opened with the launch of the famed Macau Poker Cup (MPC), running from April 19 to April 28. This was the 18th installment of the MPC series in which the HK$11,000 Red Dragon Main Event alone boasted a huge HK$5,000,000 guarantee.
Initially, the poker room was located on the main casino floor of the City of Dreams Casino, and is now on the Level 2. It offers both cash games and tournaments at 13 permanent tables, and has been the venue of the venue for Asia’s most successful poker tournaments, including the Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP), Macau Poker Cup series, Macau Millions and the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau poker festival.
This historic moment in this week that year has till date provided the most innovative and premium gaming experience to poker players from across the globe that is second to none in Macau.
