“Flying to Vegas was an eye opening experience. I played the WSOP Main Event for the first time, and finishing in the money in this tournament is as good as winning it for me. I would rather say victory unfulfilled as I was very far away from big money.” – Are the words Muthukumar Rajagopalan, Poker player, who went to Las Vegas to play at the 2015 WSOP as a member of Team India sponsored by adda52.com.
MuthuKumar did very well for his first international poker outing as he cashed his first ever WSOP Event# 68 No Limit Hold’em Main Event. He secured 768th position and took away prize money of US $15,000. A thrilling feat of being one out of only 5 Indians who cashed at the Main Event this year.
A Charted Accountant and business entrepreneur, who holds senior positions in MNC, Muthukumar himself states that he is an amateur in Poker as he started playing it online on adda52.com in 2013 only. He is more of a cash player than tournament liker, however, “Fly to Vegas” series of adda52.com, which started in early 2015, attracted him as it was sending its winners to the city of lights, Las Vegas, for World’s most reputed Poker tournament, World Series of Poker 2015.
Muthukumar was one among the 4, who won adda52.com’s “Fly to Vegas” series and a package of Rs.800,000 to play at the most prestigious Poker event at Vegas. Other winners included Sumit Sehgal, Pranav A, and Abineet Jain.
In an exclusive interview with adda52.com, Muthukumar said that after winning Fly to Vegas series and reserving a seat for playing at the ME of WSOP 2015, he started honing his Poker skills. He read various books on Poker and watched WSOP – ME videos, moreover he took Poker coaching classes from Jonathan Little. And now when he has finished in the money at WSOP 2015 Main Event that too in the first attempt, he is planning to take Poker more seriously and play it professionally. He now has a dream of becoming a Poker World champion and hence is waiting eagerly for next year’s WSOP Main Event.
We congratulate Muthukumar Rajagopalan for his tremendous feat in his maiden attempt at WSOP 2015. His story is definitely an inspiration for all the aspiring Poker players. The real hard work and determination for sure pays off. Once again many congratulations Muthukumar and thank you for making India proud at Pokers top podium.
