The ninth edition of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has just begun at PokerStars LIVE, City of Dreams Manila, Philippines, and the event is expected to draw top poker pros from the entire Asia-Pacific region. This season poker players will get to experience the best-ever poker experience across this action-packed 11-day festival till August 9, 2015.
The APPT 9 series is set to hold 14 Official Asia Player of the Year events including the opening PHP 10,000 Warm-up (July 30), PHP 50,000 Main Event (Aug 6), PHP 25,000 Megastack Freezeout (Aug 8), and PHP 200,000 High Roller (Aug 9).
Though this is for the fifth time that APPT is taking place at Manila, but it is being hosted at PokerStars LIVE for the first time. The series began yesterday with the ₱10,000 Warm-up event which has a ₱3 million guarantee. The pinnacle event – PHP 50,000 Main Event has a starting chip stack of 20,000, and will run from August 6-9 with two starting flights offering one reentry each. Furthermore, the winner of Main Event will get HKD 100,000 entry to the 2015 ACOP Main Event.
The players who are attending the event include Team PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang, Celina Lin, Kosei Ichinose, Aditya Agarwal, and 2010 APPT Cebu winner Vivian Im. This season will see presence of large contingent from India, namely, Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal, Aditya Sushant, Dhaval Mudgal, Archit Khandelwal, Haresh Kukreja, Romit Advani, Shravan Chhabria, Madhav Gupta, Rohit Bhalla, Samay Parikh and many more. After Macau, Manila has been a special poker place for Indian players.
Several other No Limit Texas Hold’em events will keep running parallel to Main Event. One-day events – PHP 10,000 NLH Turbo and PHP 5,000 NLH Shootout events will run parallel to the Main Event on 7th and 8th August respectively. Besides the PHP 200,000 High Roller, the final day of the tournament will also bring PHP 15,000 KO Bounty running parallel to the Main Event final table.
