Dan Smith (GPI#1, =) continues to rule at the top of the GPI World Rankings for third straight week. Thanks to Smith’s recent final table performance at Event #54: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship and Event #29: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship- WSOP 2015 that he managed to retain his #1 position. Now, he is the only player standing with over 4000 points.
On every Thursday, GPI (Global Poker Index) releases a list of top 300 Poker tournament players. To dwell this list of top Poker performers of the World, GPI maintains a Poker Index point system and uses special formula. Through this leaderboard, GPI as well announces Player of the Year.
After dropping down inside the Top for the past few weeks, Belgian pro Davidi Kitai (GPI#5, +5) made a big jump moving up 5 spots. The credit goes to his 7th place finish in the Poker Players’ Championship. This year, Anthony Zinno (GPI#8, +4), WPT Player of the Year, continues his ride to the top at the 2015 WSOP. He recently finished 7th in the One Drop High Roller event and is currently playing in his fifth final table of the summer in the $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha event.
Last month, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the Global Poker Index (GPI) entered into a partnership in which the GPI has been given the official rights to lead the WSOP Player of the Year award. After Day 36 of 2015 WSOP Mike Gorodinsky strengthens his 1st place lead, with Paul Volpe sitting in 2nd and Brian Hastings in 3rd. Chidwick, Deeb, Mercier and Hellmuth continue to switch spots on the leaderboard. The GPI WSOP POY race will last over the course of 74 events at the WSOP and WSOP Europe (Oct. 8-24 in Berlin, Germany).
