Have you nominated your favorite poker personality for this year’s Hall of Fame? The public nomination process which opened on July 1st is about to close on August 15th. Every poker lover can nominate one poker player or poker industry person meeting certain criteria for the 2015 Hall of Fame. All you need to do is fill out the form of nomination on WSOP’s Poker Hall of Fame nomination page.
All nominations from around the world will be collected and analyzed to filter the top 10 nominations. The top 10 nominations will again be reviewed by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council. In the final stage of selection, the existing Poker Hall of Fame members and a blue ribbon media panel will vote for the final list of nominees to determine the class of 2015.
The criteria for the Poker Hall of Fame are as follows:
♠ A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
♠ Played for high stakes
♠ Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination
♠ Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
♠ Stood the test of time
♠ Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.
The final one or two poker personality will be inducted into 2015 Poker Hall of Fame at a ceremony in November during WSOP Main Event Final Table. Last year, Daniel Negreanu and Jack McClelland were given the honors as the 47th and 48th inductees of the Poker Hall of Fame. The Canadian poker legend made through the nominations in his first year of eligibility as per the age restriction.
The remaining 8 finalists of 2014 – Bruno Fitoussi, Bob Hooks,Ted Forrest, Jennifer Harman, Humberto Brenes, Mike Matusow, Chris Bjorin and Huck Seed will again be among the favourites this year. Moreover, British poker star David “Devilfish” Ulliott who passed away on 6th April this year is also speculated to be one of the prominent names in the final list.
Terrence Chan, an MMA fighter and poker pro has appealed to the poker community to vote for the PokerStars founder Isai Scheinberg. Chan started a thread on TwoPlusTwo tilted “Campaign for Isai Scheinberg for the Poker HOF” which has got mixed reaction from a number of poker enthusiasts. Many of them have supported this initiative but a section of the community is opposing due to the unanswered questions on Black Friday.
