Delta Corp, the company which operates Deltin group of casinos and hotels has announced to launch an onshore casino in the premise of its hotel Deltin Suites in Goa. The casino will offer variety of games such as Blackjack, Baccarat, and Roulette to the guests of the hotel. In its filing to the Stock Exchange dated 1st December, the company declared that it has obtained license to operate an onshore casino in its hotel premise in Goa. The company shares saw a 6% intraday jump today after the announcement went public.
Presently, there are 9 onshore casinos in Goa and with the new Casino opening at Deltin Suites the number will reach 10. Delta group is already operating 2 offshore casinos in Goa – Deltin Royale and Deltin JAQK. Deltin Royale is by far the biggest gaming vessel in the country. With the launch of onshore casino, Deltin Suites will offer a complete entertainment package to its guests.
The official statement enunciates: Delta, in addition to its offshore casinos, will strengthen its presence in the gaming business with this operation, thereby reinforcing its leadership position in the Indian gaming and entertainment space. The all-suite Five star hotel “Deltin Suites”, Goa is spread over 70,000 sq. ft. comprising of 106 rooms, gourmet restaurants, bars, a luxury spa and now a casino.
It would be noteworthy to mention that onshore casinos can be operated in only five star hotels in Goa. In August 2015, the Goa Government had shut down 2 onshore casinos as the validity of the five star certificates of the hotels had expired. The casinos at ‘O’ Hotel, Candolim and Bogmallo Beach Resort were closed down.
The announcement of the new casino at Deltin Suites is a welcome news for the tourists visiting Goa. However, it would be interesting to watch how soon the company starts the operations.
