Tournament action surged in the Asia-Pacific region of the world today with two major poker series starting. The 2016 Asian Poker Tour Kickoff and Aussie Millions Poker Championship started today in Manila and Melbourne respectively. The 19-events series, Asian Poker Tour Kick Off 2016 will be played till 21st January at the APT Poker Room Manila located at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion in Ermita, Manila, Philippines. Aussie Millions will host 24 poker events till 1st February 2016 at the Crown, Melbourne.
India’s Paawan Bansal and Nipun Java are playing the Aussie Millions 2016. “It’s my first Aussie Million outing although, I have been to Crown a few times in past. Looking ahead to a successful tour..!,” said Paawan Bansal. Nipun Java, India #1 on 2015 GPI Rankings and with $1,648,712 in live tournament winnings will be accompanying Paawan in wining titles for India.
Crown Melbourne’s Tournament Director Joel Williams said “Now in its’ eighteenth year, Crown Melbourne’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship continues to be seen as a ‘must-attend’ on the global poker tour among both recreational players and seasoned pros alike. With a schedule featuring 24 official Championship events, 2016 looms as one of the biggest events yet”.
The $10,600 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Aussie Millions Main Event will bring an estimated AUD$1.6 million dollar first prize with the ‘Main Event’ Champion bracelet designed by LK Boutique valued at over AUD$25,000.
The Main Event of APT Kickoff will begin on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 1pm. In addition to the prize money and trophy, the winner will be rewarded with an APT ring. The APT Player of the Year 2016 race will also start with this series.
