WSOP 2017 Schedule: World Series of Poker (WSOP) Announces Key Dates for 2017

The World Series of Poker has announced its key dates for the year 2017. The richest and most prestigious poker tournament across the world, the WSOP 2017 will kick off from May 30 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and will run through July 17, 2017 with gold bracelet events, satellites, cash games and deepstack tournaments 3 times a day for a straight 49 days. As usual, the WSOP 2017 schedule features once again the world’s largest live poker event  Colossus III, a 3-day $565 buy-in reentry no-limit hold’em tournament running for 3 consecutive days from Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4. During its two initial years, the event drew 43,987 entries, making it the largest live poker tournament where one can enter with $565 entry and win $1 million.

Some key events back from the previous years schedule include the popular Millionaire Maker, Monster Stack, Little One for ONE DROP, Seniors Event and Ladies Championship. The summer poker festival of WSOP 2017 will reach its pinnacle with world’s longest running poker tournament-the $10,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em WSOP Main Event championship, a 10 day event taking place between  July 8 to July 17. It will feature 3 flights-July 8, July9 and July 10.

The WSOP 2017 schedule also includes the Casino Employees event on May 31 with a $565 buy in no-limit hold’em tournament. This will be a two-day running tourney with a single reentry format. Also, there will be Senior Event for people aged 50 or older. Scheduled for for 10:00am on Friday, June 16, this event once again features a $1,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em format and has a single entry option.

A Look at the WSOP 2016

The average WSOP gold bracelet event in 2016 was a marquee event. It had a whopping $3,205,961 in prize pool with $555,475 going to the winner. The 2016 WSOP featured the Top 5 field sizes in 2016, including the Main Event (6,737), Millionaire Maker (7,190), Monster Stack (6,927), Crazy Eights (6,761) and Colossus (21,613) entries, creating a total of 49,228 entries. The 107,833 entries at the 2016 WSOP were the highest in  its 47-year history. With the new 15% target payout utilised for the first time, a record 15,767 entrants walked away with prize money. It finally was Qui Nguyen who won the 2016 WSOP Main Event, which drew 6,737 players and was televised by ESPN.
