APT 2017: Asian Poker Tour Kickoff 2017 Starts at Resorts World Manila
The Asian Poker Tour’s first event of the calendar year, the APT Kickoff 2017 has begun at the Resorts World Manila integrated resort in Newport City. The 9-day poker festival running from January 11-19 is to attract and welcome poker players from the Asia-Pacific region as well as from across the world to the New Year 2017.
Speaking about the APT Kickoff in this New Year, APT Executive Tournament Director, Lloyd Fontillas said, “A new year, a new event, and we could not have thought of any better way than to kick off the start of a great year of poker with our long time partner RWM! We are wishing all of you a great series and we hope you appreciate our new incentives for 2017.”
The Asian Poker Tour Kickoff 2017 features variety of events. There will be 18 events to be played during the APT’s Manila stop. The highlight tournament is the $1,650 Main Event, which will begin at 1 PM local time on January 14. It will have 2 starting flights in 2 separate days and 3 more days of the play. The winner will be determined on January 18 this month. Another event that is expected to attract a large number of poker players is 2 day $2,150 High Rollers. It will take place between January 18-19.
APT Kickoff 2017 Started Yesterday with Korea`s Byun Choul Seung Wining Charity Event ( Side Event)
The first side event on APT Kickoff was the NLH Welcome Event, which started yesterday at 1PM with buy-in of US$165. Then at 5PM was the second side event-the Ante Up for Charity, which was organized for the benefit of the Cancer Warriors Foundation. Buy-in was US$150 with one-third of the prize pool donated to the non-profit organization. Finally, it was Byun Choul Seung from Korea who emerged as a winner of the Ante Up for Charity.
Upcoming Side Events
Up next, the 9-day poker festival will see some popular side events such as the APT Player of the Series, wherein the top 3 performers at the end of each festival will be distributed special prizes. All events will award points and furthermore all trophy winners and all APT POS winners will qualify into the APT Game of Champions US$10,000 event.
