Final Table Story
The first casuality on the final was Germany’s Kilian Loeffler, who fell after his Kh- Ks ran right into Dang Van Hien’s Ad- Ac. Up next, Dang eliminated China’s Xu Dong Hui in 7th place to take a commanding chip lead. After a few more eliminations, the three-handed round saw Weng confronting hard against Shravan Chhabria and after several heated exchanges, Weng eventually eliminated Chhabria in 3rd place to enter the heads up against Dang.
Chhabria had a good run and he had climbed up in chips when he won a hand against Dang Van Hien. With his stack coming down to 470k, he moved it all in and Choong Kian Weng tossed in the call. The board delivered As-8s-4s-2c-8s. At showdown, Weng tabled Ah-9h and Chhabria showed 5d-6d.
After Chhabria going out in 3rd place, Weng’s defining moment followed. Although the first pot went with Dang adding more to his chip stacks, the entire game changed after that. Weng took the charge and won seven hands in a row. The sixth pot proved a total game changer and Weng took over 70% of the chips. His Ad-3d won against Dang’s Ac-Jd on the board of 3s-5h-8c-8s-7s.
The last hand was the end of Dang. He moved all in with Ad- 6h only to discover he was still way behind Weng’s As- Qh. The board ran out Qc- 2c- 3h- 10s- 9h,crowning Weng the new APT Champion.
