PokerStars LIVE Macau’s flagship tournament series-Macau Poker Cup (MPC) is by far the best and biggest poker tournament in the Asian region and has grown into the most popular series among the players from Asia. Now, with barely a few days to go, the 28th edition of MPC is all set to kick off.
Ever since its inception in 2008, MPC has risen in its worldwide popularity and attracts the best poker talent from across the world, including a large number of players from India and China. This year, the marquee event is slated to run from January 26 and continue through February 11.
This year’s MPC has 31 events on its schedule along with a few satellites. Buy-ins for the tournaments in the fest range from HK$500 all the way up to HK$100,000. Catering to high roller lovers, MPC has several high rollers such as HK$25,000 with HK$3 million GTD prize pool, HK$50,000, HK$80,000 one, and $100,000. Overall, the festival promises a massive action ahead.
The legendary HK$15,000 Red Dragon kicks off on February 4 and features a massive guaranteed prize pool of HK$10 million. It was Chinese player Qiuming Qin who won the Red Dragon at the Macau Poker Cup 27 back in 2017. The player earned HK$3,141,000 for besting a 1,308 entry filed.
Indian Contingent at MPC
Macau Poker Cup is a huge hit among the poker players from India and every edition attracts a huge Indian contingent. The 27th edition of MPC saw a large number of Indian players attending the event and several of them even went on to win big titles, including Paawan Bansal who took down the HK$6K NLH event for HK$75,000 and Nishant Sharma who shipped HK$3K Event for HK$65,900. Among other Indians who shined included Nathan Rao who finished runner-up in the HK$3K NLH event and Akshay Nasa who made a runner-up finish in the HK$500 Flipout event.
Continuing with the tradition, this time too a large Indian contingent will be flying to Macau to be a part of MPC for their share of millions up for grabs. Adda52 Team Pro- Kunal Patni has already confirmed his attendance and will be flying to Macau to play Baby Dragon, Main Event, Megastack and several other crucial events. He is expected to be joined at the series by the likes of Nishant Sharma, Aditya Agarwal, Aditya Sushant, Rajat Sharma and Neeraj Kumar to name a few.
