The 28th edition of the Macau Poker Cup kicked off on 26th January and saw many Indian players participating in it with hopes of bagging some big cash prizes. Having 31 events on its schedule, the series running between 26th Jan and 11th Feb has seen several key events wrapping successfully.
The 2 biggest events of the series were the Baby Dragon event and the Red Dragon Main Event, which wrapped up successfully attracting massive fields. At the Baby Dragon event, it was Siyou Cao, who defeated a record-breaking field of 819 runners to take down the title for HK$1,200,000 in prize money. India’s Vinay BK made the deepest run and finished in 4th place for HK$331,000. Other Indians who made money in this event included Aditya Agarwal, Sumit Sapra, and Vivek Rughani.
The biggest attraction was the Red Dragon Main Event. The event drew a huge field of 1,122 entries and eventually, it was Alvan Zheng, who won the tournament for HK$3,055,000 (INR 2.51 crore) along with a $30,000 Platinum Package to the 2019 PokerStars Players Championship.
A total of 4 Indian players cashed in this event, namely Kunal Punjwani who finished 24th for HK$75,900 (INR 6,23,581), Rajesh Rajpopat who took 43rd place for HK$52,500 (INR 4,31,331), and Sahil Chuttani who finished in 97th place for HK$35,000 (INR 2,87,554). India’s Aditya Agarwal, who is known as the Godfather of poker, finished 116th for HK$32,100 (INR 2,63,728).
